From September - November 2025 I had the privilege to serve as a Maker in Residence for the DPLs ideaLAB at Hadley and Gonzales. During the first session at Hadley I explored texture, typography and the graphic nature of quilting. Customers were invited to engage in basic quilting techniques and experiment with other fiber techniques like embroidery, applique, weaving and more. The final piece was a tapestry of community contributions as well as my own.
During my time at the Gonzales branch I stayed in the fibers realm and wearable/sculpture. This series focused on sculpture through the lens of fibers. I played with texture and dimensional objects using fibers, fabric, and other wearable elements.
Work In Progress
I am currently working on two collections utilizing textiles and fiber techniques. In these works I explore themes of grief, loss, and legacy. For updates on the progress follow me on Instagram.
Muddy Waters
One medium I never got the opportunity to explore in college was ceramics. After, watching two seasons of The Great Pottery Throw Down and seeing a grown man brought to tears by the beauty of the medium I thought maybe there was something to explore. I signed up for a class as a way to get out of my bubble both socially and artistically and it was truly an addicting experience that allowed me to create for the sake of creating and launched me back into a creative practice I had been craving. Here are some pieces I made during my year-o-ceramics.
Arts Week at DMNS
Denver Arts Week is an annual celebration of arts and culture across the city’s cultural institutions. As part of the celebrations Denver Museum of Nature and Science commissioned creatives to active their space for Night at the Museum. For this workshop I coordinated a collage activity for all ages using found materials. Participants were invited to build compositions using natural materials like dried flowers, herbs, and mica in addition to traditional collage materials like magazines and photos.
Fresh Fibers
This was a class designed for Steet Wise Arts, Boulder. The sessions were picked up by a school in Westminster and the session was held with 18 upper elementary students in Spring 2023.
Description: Explore street art themes though the context of fibers. This series will highlight the use of color, typography, textiles and texture. Participants will explore artists from Keith Haring to Nick Cave and their impact on art and society. Using these materials and insight into art history participants will create flags, wearable and other 3D objects. Final works will highlight the youths interests, perspectives and personal voice. This series is adaptable in length and the content can be adjusted to any age and skill level.
Runner Up
Second is the best
Runner Up is a one woman operation created by Alexandria Jimenez and ran out of a basement in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. Born out of the desire to connect people to secondhand treasures, create beautiful things and explore ways to breathe life into the discarded. All items are secondhand and/or reworked.
Runner Up specializes in cute, cool and kitsch, items that span time and design. The shop is full of surprises and inventory fluctuates week to week. All pieces are pretty unique in their own way but there are a few themes around here; vintage plastics, beaded and glam pieces, vintage wearables (60s, 70s, 80s), art, fake food items, coffee table books and denim.
In addition to curated collections Runner Up is available for personal shopping, custom orders and styling services. Have a piece you want re-worked? Need a unique gift? Have an event that you want to shine at? Hop over to IRL and spit your idea.
